02Development

Formulated for safety from the start.

CMR substances of categories 1A and 1B (carcinogenic, germ cell mutagenic, toxic to reproduction) bring special duties for processors: additional protective measures and a register of the employees concerned, recording the activity and the level and duration of exposure.

We avoid such substances from the start of development. For our resins, this effort does not arise, and you have legal certainty on this point.

  • Formulation that is technically up to date
  • Hazard to processors and users kept as low as possible
  • Odour nuisance during processing kept as low as possible
  • No CMR substances of categories 1A and 1B
Frequently asked questions

Quick answers.

Why do you avoid CMR substances of category 1A and 1B?

Such substances mean extra work for processors: special protective measures and a register of the employees concerned. We therefore avoid them from the start of development. For our resins, these duties do not apply, which saves you effort and gives you legal certainty on this point. The general duties for handling hazardous substances are not affected.

What duties apply when handling CMR substances of category 1A and 1B?

In Germany, the Hazardous Substances Ordinance (GefStoffV) requires special protective measures (section 10). Employers must also keep a register of the employees for whom the risk assessment shows a health hazard (section 10a), recording the activity and the level and duration of exposure. After exposure ends, the register must be kept for 40 years for carcinogenic and germ cell mutagenic substances and for five years for substances toxic to reproduction. Employment restrictions under the Maternity Protection Act and the Youth Employment Protection Act also apply.

What do CMR substances of category 1A and 1B mean?

CMR stands for carcinogenic, germ cell mutagenic and toxic to reproduction. Category 1A covers substances known to have such effects in humans, category 1B substances presumed to have them. They are identified by the hazard statements H340, H350 and H360 in the safety data sheet.
