Reactive resins for sewer rehabilitation.

Epoxy, acrylate and silicate resins for trenchless wastewater pipe rehabilitation, for rehabilitation contractors, engineering firms and planners.

01Process

A pipe within a pipe, relined without digging (CIPP).

A resin-impregnated liner lines the damaged pipe from the inside and cures on site. The common method is cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining, also known as pipe relining or liner rehabilitation.

Depending on the resin system, the liner cures with heat (hot water or steam), with light (UV or LED) or at ambient temperature.

For localised damage, short liners are available; for pipes inside buildings, in-building rehabilitation.

Pipes connected to CIP systems in industrial buildings are under particular stress from strong cleaning agents and heat. Specialist resins such as Tazacryl HP are available for them.

Typical requirements
  • Tight fit against the host pipe and carrier material
  • Sufficient mechanical properties in the cured state
  • Chemical resistance to the media in the pipe
  • Processing properties suited to the installation method

The resin systems shown for each method are only a general guide. Whether a system fits depends on the condition of the host pipe, the installation method, the loads and the required verification.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers.

Which resin is suitable for sewer rehabilitation?

Depending on the requirements, several reactive resin systems may be considered for sewer rehabilitation, for example epoxy resins such as Tazipox, acrylate resins such as Tazacryl HP or silicate resins such as Tazasil. Which system suits a particular case depends on the rehabilitation method, the loads on the pipe and the site conditions, and should be checked for the specific application.

Which resins are suitable for house connections?

Tazacryl 50, 70 and 100 were developed specifically for house connections. The resins meet the requirements of the DIBt (German Institute for Building Technology) for approval in sewer rehabilitation, and you can obtain approval with your own material. We assess together with you whether a resin suits your application.

What does trenchless sewer rehabilitation mean?

Trenchless sewer rehabilitation covers methods for repairing damaged wastewater pipes without digging them up. The damaged pipe is lined from the inside with a resin-impregnated carrier material (the liner), which then cures on site.

How does a CIPP liner cure?

Depending on the resin system, the liner cures with heat (hot water or steam), with light (UV or LED) or at ambient temperature. Which method suits depends on the resin, the liner and the site.

What is the difference between a short liner and a CIPP liner?

A CIPP liner rehabilitates a longer, continuous section of pipe and is usually installed using the cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) method. A short liner, by contrast, covers only a limited, localised area of damage and is often positioned precisely at the point of damage with a packer, which is why the method is called partial sewer rehabilitation.

What is the DIBt?

The German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) is a technical authority based in Berlin. Among other things, it grants national technical approvals for construction products and general construction technique permits for construction techniques. Tazacryl 50, 70 and 100 meet its requirements for approval in sewer rehabilitation.

Who applies for DIBt approval for a CIPP liner?

The approval covers the complete system of liner and resin, not the resin alone. The application to the DIBt is usually made by the supplier of the system. An approval is generally valid for five years and can be extended.
